RTA Buying Home Furnishings

The meaning behind RTA when purchasing home furniture. Having furniture shipped to you is usually shipped RTA. RTA is “Ready To Assemble”. The furniture you expect to have to assemble would be; bunk beds, occasional tables, chairs, bar stools and perhaps Entertainment Units. When it comes to your living room furniture you would not expect to receive your sofa and love seat in a flat box RTA.

That’s right, some sofa and sectional collections are now shipped to you RTA. When you are ready to make your purchase from an online store, make sure you understand or ask if you will need to assemble the sofa. Depending on the brand do be prepared to handle the assembly.

RTA does not mean the furniture is not good quality it simply is easier and less costly to ship to you.

Terms to keep in mind when ordering is KD “Knocked Down Furniture” mostly used on the delivery slip and RTA “Ready to Assemble” mostly identified on the listing.
